Gail Weatherly, distance education coordinator at Stephen F. Austin State University, received a BA in journalism and English from Trinity University in San Antonio in 1982, and an online masters degree in Educational Technology from the University of Texas at Brownsville and the UT TeleCampus in 2001. In 1988, she earned a Lifetime Secondary Teacher Certification in English and Journalism. From 1990-1995 she taught high school English courses and supervised the lab where her students used networked computer technology to assist the writing process. Before joining the Office of Instructional Technology at Stephen F. Austin State University, Weatherly also served as the district technology coordinator at Central Heights Independent School District from 1995 to 1999.

Currently, Weatherly is pursuing a doctoral degree in human resource development at Texas A&M University. She also serves on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's Distance Education Advisory Committee and the Stephen F. Austin State University Distance Education Advisory Committee.
