Thierry R. H. Bacro

Thierry Bacro is currently an associate professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated in physical therapy in 1980 from the Medical University of Lille, France, did a year of training in sport injuries in 1987 at the University of Cape Town Medical School, in Cape Town, Republic of South Africa, then received an MS in exercise physiology in 1990 from the University of South Carolina, and graduated with a PhD in developmental biology and anatomy at the University of South Carolina Medical School in 1994. When hired at MUSC in 1995, his teaching responsibilities in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences were in the field of gross anatomy, physical agents, research inquiries, and research seminars. He recently accepted a transfer to the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy where he now teaches gross anatomy to first year medical students. His research interests are on novel applications of iontophoresis, development of effective protocols for patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, and on the integration of cutting edge technology to facilitate learning in medical curriculum and the effective delivery of visual information over the Internet to support educational missions (i.e. the Anatomy on the Web).
