Peter S. Cookson is associate vice president of research and institutional studies and professor of distance education in the Master of Distance Education program at Athabasca University, Canada's Open University. Previously he taught in the field of adult and continuing education at Penn State, University of British Columbia, and Texas A&I. He is the co-author of Beyond Instruction: Comprehensive Programming for Business and Education (Jossey-Bass, 1997), editor of Program Planning for the Training and Continuing Education of Adults (Krieger, 1998), and editor of a new online refereed academic journal, International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning (www.irrodl.org).
