Paul Shrivastava

Paul Shrivastava received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh; his master's degree in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta; and his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Bhopal University. He started his management career as part of the entrepreneurial team that launched The HCL Group, now a division of Hewlett Packard (India). His teaching, research, and consulting interests include strategic management, knowledge management, crisis and environmental management, and Web-based education and training.

Shrivastava has 18 years of management, teaching, and consulting experience in the computer, communications industry, environmental management, and management education. He is the author/editor of 13 books including, Greening Business: Profiting the Corporation and the Environment (Thompson Executive Press, 1996), Bhopal: Anatomy of a Crisis (2nd edition by Paul Chapman, London, 1992), Strategic Management: Concepts and Practices (South Western Publishing, 1996), and the Advances in Strategic Management Series (JAI Press). He has published over 150 articles in professional journals, scholarly journals, and books. He is a regular speaker at national and international professional and academic meetings.

Shrivastava founded and served as editor-in-chief of the journal Industrial & Environmental Crisis Quarterly, which is now published by Sage Periodicals as Organizations and Environment. He served as the book review editor of the Academy of Management Review and as principal editor of Business Strategy and the Environment. He serves on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Organization, Journal of Business Strategy, International Journal of Corporate Social Responsibility, and Iconoclastic Papers. He has received numerous awards and grants for his research, including the Fulbright Senior Scholar Award in Japan, 1994.

Shrivastava founded and served as president of Environmental Intelligence, Inc., a company that makes wireless and Web-based environmental and educational services. He has served as a consultant to major international corporations and has lectured all over the world. He chaired the 1st and 2nd International Conferences on Industrial Crisis Management, New York, 1986, 1989.
