Nancy Millichap is assistant director for Network Services with the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication System (www.ihets.org). IHETS is a consortium of Indiana's public and private colleges and universities for shared networking and distance education coordination, with offices in Indianapolis. Her responsibilities include providing opportunities for faculty to develop their interests and abilities in integrating technology into instruction. IHETS supports its member institutions' faculty by calling for, reviewing, and publishing collections of papers such as those discussed in the article, making small grants to encourage the development of asynchronous courses and modules, and holding annual conferences. Before joining IHETS in 1994, Millichap was the manager of computing support for humanities faculty at Dartmouth College. She has a BS in education from Shippensburg University and an MA in English from Middlebury College.
