Michelle Johnston worked with the North Central Regional Educational Laboratory (NCREL) to implement its Learning with Technology materials and facilitated the NCREL Learning with Technology course in Michigan, Illinois, South Dakota, and West Virginia. She also helped revise the participants' and facilitators' manuals.
Johnston's additional work in technology education includes facilitating breakout sessions for three years at the annual Michigan State University technology conferences, which focused on integrating technology into instruction and on professional development, and at the 1999 Michigan State University Technology Leadership Institute. She also developed a cadre of Michigan Technology Teacher Leaders to support building-level implementation of technology innovations.
Johnston has international teaching experience; she has facilitated graduate-level seminars for teachers in Japan (Okinawa), Brazil, and France. As a component of her teaching, she supervised action research projects implemented by her international students in the areas of technology, literacy, curriculum design, and leadership.
