Mark Kassop
Distinguished Professor
Bergen Community College

Mark Kassop has been a professor of sociology at Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey, for 31 years. He currently holds the rank of Distinguished Professor and serves as the college's distance learning coordinator. He also helped establish and currently chairs the New Jersey Virtual Community College Consortium.

Kassop's honors include an award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development for teaching excellence. He has a PhD in sociology from New York University and other graduate degrees from Syracuse University and Seton Hall University; he did additional postgraduate work at Princeton University. Kassop has made presentations on online education at numerous state and national conferences, including meetings hosted by the League for Innovation in the Community College, the Eastern Sociological Society, and TeleLearning.
