As an IT manager in administrative computing at the University at Buffalo, Jim Gorman is responsible for the ongoing development and support of various student-related and electronic payment-related information systems. Additionally, he is responsible for a departmental intranet as well as the maintenance and support of Administrative Computing's Web site. He is a member of numerous campus-wide committees on UB Web presence and is one of the primary architects for the University's portal MyUB.

Gorman has been with the University at Buffalo and Administrative Computing since 1987. Additionally, he has held adjunct teaching positions at the University at Buffalo. His work has been recognized on campus by receiving the "Service Excellence Award" for the development of the University's touch-tone registration system. Numerous other projects he has been involved with have received nominations for this prestigious award. He holds a bachelor's degree in MIS and an MBA. In July 2000 he was invited to speak at the Portal Technology Symposium sponsored by Converge Magazine. He is a program committee member for the annual WebDevShare conference held at Indiana University each fall. Gorman is also one of the principles of HipKnowSys Design, Inc., a technology and Web media company based in Buffalo, NY. The company specializes in bringing corporate data to the Internet and building Web and wireless applications.
