Colleen Carmean serves as the director of information technology consulting at Arizona State University (ASU) West. Her research interests involve the enhancement and transformation of teaching and learning with technology and the assessment of technology uses in improving learning outcomes. She currently teaches applied computing courses online, in learning communities, and in computer classrooms. She is responsible for the faculty development and support initiatives in teaching with technology at her campus and serves on the campus outcomes assessment task force for ASU West.

Carmean received her masters from the University of Arizona and her bachelors from the University of Illinois. She earlier studied at the University of Paris, Sorbonne where she received a baccalaureate in French civilization. She is currently on the faculty development editorial board for MERLOT and is the EDUCAUSE National Learning Infrastructure Initiative Fellow, researching learner-centered practices in higher education.
